Guwahati has been an important city since time immemorial because of its strategic and advantageous location on the banks of the Brahmaputra. It has a unique architectural landscape, which we would like to explore through this walk. In collaboration with Heritage Art and Design, this walk will take us through the 117-year-old Cotton College, the first Catholic church of North-East India established in 1849, and many more such structures of architectural grandeur. The architecture of these buildings is popularly known as Assam-type or ikora houses, which is a very unique amalgamation of the British and indigenous styles.

This guided tour is free.
