Nizamuddin Basti is an 800-year-old settlement. The area developed around the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, a prominent 13th century Sufi saint who promoted universal peace and tolerance among people from different faiths, is home to various historical monuments. Disciples from all around the world come here to seek the spiritual blessings of the saint. This tour will cover all the surrounding monuments from 13th to 18th century.

This walk will take you to Shiv Temple, Phool Wali Gali , Khwaja Hall , Alvi Chowk, Kalan Masjid, Attar Wali Gali, Ghalib’s Tomb, Atgah Khan’s Tomb. The walk will continue to Dargah of  Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and Dargah of Hazrat Amir Khusrau, Nizamuddin Auliya’s chief disciple who is considered to be the first Urdu poet. This walk will give you an insight into the Sufi history and Sufi culture of the area.

Rashid Siddiqui and Aamir Ahmed are active members of Sair-e-Nizamuddin the Self Help Group (SHG) of the community heritage volunteers, an initiative supported by Aga Khan Trust. They conduct tours both in Hindi and English, giving an authentic touch to the history of area by adding fascinating legends and stories into it.
