Malleshwaram is one of Bangalore’s oldest modern suburbs, formed in 1889 by the Wodeyars or Wadiyars as a response to the plague that hit the city centre. The neighbourhood has different origin stories, all of which contribute to making it a hub of diversity.

Malleswaram has several academic institutions par excellence, restaurants that are gastronomic delights and beautiful temples. It has a rich industrial history going back to the Mysore Sandal Soap and Mysore Lamp factories of the early 20th century. It is also home to cultural icons and boasts of various dance and music studios.

We will stroll across the Sampige and Margosa Roads, visit the 8th Cross Shopping Street which caters to all ages and pockets. We will visit the Venugoplaswamy and Kadu Malleshwara temples, and experience the sensory delights of the Malleshwaram fruit and vegetable market. We will also pamper our taste buds with local food delicacies, without which the walk would be incomplete.

This guided tour is free.
